So you’re thinking about calling Grant to set up an appointment, but you’re not quite sure how this all works. Well let me give you a run-down of how this whole process works here at Homestead Financial.
Know what you want! It’s great if you know ahead of time what your goals and problems are. Maybe you’re just getting started and want to know how to invest in the most tax-advantegous way. Or maybe you’ve been investing for years and need a second opinion or your current financial advisor isn’t quite cutting it. Regardless of your situation, I’m happy to go through your financial goals with you and help you understand where you stand and what the next steps should be.
Don’t be embarassed! It’s been said that opening up your financial life to a stranger can be as hard as opening up about your medical conditions to a doctor! So relax, there’s no judgement here regardless of where you’re at. I’ve seen plenty of really stupid financial decisions in my life. And in fact, I made a really stupid financial decision when I was younger. If you’re embarrased about where you’re at currently, ask me about my hard life lessons!
Get it together! One of the most helpful parts of our financial planning process is that you will be organized by the end of it! Don’t sweat it if you don’t have your financial life organized prior to our first meeting. Once you sign up for financial planning, you’ll have plenty of time to gather your financial data and enter it into our (extremely secure) easy-to-use financial-planning software. You’ll be amazed how much peace of mind comes from just having all your financial data in one place where you can see what you own, owe, make, spend and invest.
Call/Email/Text: The next step is to schedule a complimentary initial zoom meeting with me. Choose your favorite method of communication and give me a shout. My schedule is very flexible and I can usually get an appointment on the books within a week.
Through this meeting most clients choose to move forward with financial planning, which costs $25/mo. To begin we e-sign the Financial Planning Agreement form, set up the monthly payment and get you access to RightCapital (our financial planning software). From there we schedule another zoom meeting about a week later. During this week, you enter as much data about your financial life as possible into the software. The more accurate and detailed the data, the more accurate your financial plan will be!
Investments: Whether you sign up for financial planning or not, we can open new investment accounts or roll over existing investments to my management at any time. Most often, part of the financial plan is reviewing your current investments and analyzing them against an investment I would recommend.
During the next meeting, and subsequent meetings, we go over the data, run scenarios, answer your questions and go over strategies to improve your outcome. Over the next months and years, I’ll guide you through strategies, keep you accountable to your goals and help you track progress.
And voila! Just like that, you’ll be confident about your path to financial freedom and success!
